Pakistan discusses regional developments with Saudi Arabia, Qatar

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday discussed evolving regional situation with his Qatari counterpart and a Saudi Arabian ambassador.

During his telephonic conversation with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, Deputy Prime Minister Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing the shared objectives of peace, stability and prosperity in the region and beyond.

They discussed the evolving regional situation and matters of mutual interest.

Both sides underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomatic engagement in addressing regional challenges.

Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role and ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Separately, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malkiy called on DPM Dar on Monday and discussed the fraternal Pakistan–Saudi Arabia relations.

The foreign minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to further strengthening cooperation across all areas.

Views were exchanged on recent regional developments and other matters of mutual interest.

The Saudi ambassador appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability.

The development comes a day after Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani to discuss evolving regional and international situation.

During the call, PM Shehbaz had expressed appreciation for Qatar’s active role in regional diplomacy and its efforts to build international consensus on ongoing mediation initiatives. He had also thanked the Qatari leadership for supporting Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and fostering stability in the region.

Both leaders had emphasised the importance of continued, close coordination among international stakeholders to address shared security challenges.

Meanwhile, DPM Dar spoke with Foreign Minister of Egypt Badr Abdelatty on Sunday as well.

The two leaders had exchanged views on the evolving regional situation. FM Abdelatty had appreciated Pakistan’s sincere efforts for promoting regional peace and stability.

They had also discussed matters related to the regional consultative forum of the Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt.

The discussion had also covered ongoing engagements pertaining to the UN Security Council and broader multilateral diplomatic developments.
