KARACHI: Gold prices recorded a steep fall on Tuesday, tracking a bearish trend in the international bullion market, traders said.
According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of gold per tola declined by Rs 8,900 to settle at Rs 485,062. Likewise, the price of 10 grams of gold dropped by Rs 7,630 to close at Rs 415,862.
On the international market, gold bullion prices also moved lower, shedding USD 89 to reach USD 4,627 per ounce. Silver prices fell by USD 2.38 to settle at USD 73.27 per ounce, the association added.
Local silver prices mirrored the global downtrend, with the rate per tola falling by Rs 238 to Rs 7,811, while the price of 10 grams declined by Rs 204 to Rs 6,696.
The association said the prices were fixed on the basis of interbank exchange rates and reflect activity in the global bullion market.
