ISLAMABAD: Amid Pakistan’s efforts to mediate between warring parties in the Middle East, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will embark on an important official visit to China today (Tuesday).

The visit follows an invitation by China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and is a strategic move in terms of coordination over rising instability in the region, Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Tahir Andrabi stated on Monday.

“Pakistan and China enjoy an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, characterized by close coordination and regular consultations on regional and international issues,” the spokesperson added.

In this context, he said the upcoming visit will provide an opportunity for both sides to hold in-depth discussions on regional developments, as well as bilateral and global issues of mutual interest.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister’s visit to China, despite medical advice to rest following his hairline shoulder fracture on Sunday during his interaction with the Egyptian Foreign Minister on the sidelines of Pakistan-Saudi Arabia-Turkiye-Egypt Consultative Quadrilateral session, convened to find a permanent solution to the Middle East conflict. Family and foreign office sources claimed that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has suffered a hairline fracture in his shoulder. Despite his physical condition, Dar continued to attend to his duties throughout the day, which involved a number of high-level diplomatic engagements.
