Brazil’s 2025/26 soybean harvest reaches 75percent of area
SAO PAULO: Brazilian farmers had harvested 75percent of their 2025/26 soybean crop as of last Thursday, agribusiness consultancy AgRural said on Monday, up 7 percentage points from the previous week but below the 82percent reported a year earlier.
Fieldwork is now focused on Rio Grande do Sul state and in the region known as Matopiba, which includes the states of Maranhao, Tocantins, Piaui and Bahia, AgRural said. Rains prevented the machinery from making faster progress last week, it added. The consultancy also revised its forecast for the 2025/26 soybean harvest to 178.4 million metric tons, up from the previous estimate of 178 million tons.
CORN
Planting of the second corn crop in Brazil’s center-south reached 99percent of the expected area, AgRural said. All states have completed planting with the exception of Parana, the consultancy noted. Projection for Brazil’s total corn production in the 2025/26 season fell to 135.7 million tons, AgRural said, from a previous forecast of 136.2 million tons.
