ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday ordered the Planning and Development Ministry to fast-track nationally significant development projects, calling for removal of hurdles delaying their completion.

The directive came during a meeting with Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, who briefed the prime minister on the progress of ongoing schemes under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), implementation challenges and future planning.

The minister apprised the prime minister of the status of various development initiatives, progress achieved so far and steps being taken to improve execution.

The meeting also reviewed the pace of PSDP schemes and coordination between relevant institutions.

Sharif stressed that projects of national importance must be completed within their stipulated timelines without compromising on quality standards.

He called for stronger coordination among ministries and departments to address delays, improve implementation and ensure effective delivery of development initiatives.

The prime minister said timely completion of development projects was critical for enhancing public welfare, creating employment opportunities and supporting economic growth.

He directed relevant institutions to maintain momentum so that the benefits of completed schemes reached citizens at the earliest.
