Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Sunday said that Iran has agreed to allow 20 additional Pakistani-flagged ships to pass through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, calling the move a “constructive gesture” that could support regional stability.
In a statement shared on social media, Dar said that two ships would cross the Strait daily under the new arrangement.
He welcomed the development as a sign of goodwill by Tehran, noting that such steps could contribute to easing tensions in an already volatile region.
“This is a harbinger of peace and will help usher stability in the region,” he said, adding that the move strengthens collective efforts aimed at de-escalation.

The Strait of Hormuz, a narrow but critical shipping route linking the Persian Gulf with global markets, is considered one of the world’s most important oil transit chokepoints.

The announcement comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions, where safe maritime passage has become a key concern for energy markets and international trade.
