KARACHI: Professor Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari, Vice Chancellor of Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) has been ranked among Pakistan’s top 2 percent scientists by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC), recognizing his outstanding contributions to scientific research and academic scholarship.

The achievement was widely celebrated within the academic community. Dean of the Faculty of Science Professor Dr Muhammad Zahid, Acting Registrar Dr Saadia Khalil, and Deputy Director OREC Dr Faisal Javed, along with other faculty members, extended their congratulations to Professor Shinwari on this prestigious recognition. Scholars and members of the scientific community across Pakistan also praised the milestone, describing it as a moment of pride for the country’s academic and research landscape.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari said the honor reflects the collective dedication of Pakistan’s researchers, teachers, and students.

“Progress in science and research represents the real strength of any nation,” he noted. “With sustained investment in education, innovation, and technology, Pakistan has the potential to stand alongside the world’s leading knowledge-driven economies.”

He further emphasized the need to inspire young scholars to pursue research and scientific inquiry in order to accelerate the country’s progress in science and technology.

“This recognition is not merely a personal achievement; it is an encouraging moment for Pakistan’s broader research ecosystem,” he added.

Addressing fellow researchers and young academics, he encouraged them to remain committed to merit, integrity, and hard work.

“The era of the lone genius has passed,” he said. “Today, scientific breakthroughs emerge through collaboration, inter-institutional partnerships, and shared research initiatives.” He also highlighted the importance of ethics in research and professional life, stressing that ethical conduct remains essential for both individual success and sustainable national development.
