FAISALABAD: Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) should formulate market-driven syllabus by exploiting Artificial Intelligence (AI) to make it highly flexible and progressive which could cater the domestic as well as export needs, said Engr Asim Munir, Vice President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI).

He was deliberating with a four-member delegation of Tevta in his office. The delegation was composed of Engr Arshad Awan, Principal Government College of Technology Samanabad Faisalabad, Ayesha Iqbal, Assistant Director Tevta Head Office, Asghar Ali, District Placement Office Tevta Faisalabad and Engr Shoaib, Instructor Civil/Technical Expert Tevta Jhang. They discussed new diploma courses to be started in Government College of Technology Samanabad Faisalabad and Government College of Technology Chiniot.

Engr Asim Munir expressed satisfaction that industrial units are hiring highly skilled human resources to improve the quality of their products.

“Government should increase the number of technical institutions to train maximum human resource in this field,” he said and added that Tevta in line with the Government policy must give priority to AI in all relevant fields to get benefits of the emerging technologies and skills. They specifically discussed the courses for Government Colleges of Technology Samanabad Faisalabad and Chiniot.

After detailed discussion, Engr Asim Munir recommended the introduction of three-year Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Glass & Ceramics Technology diplomas. Similarly, a two-year food technology course could also be added in GCT Chiniot. Vice President Engr. Asim Munir recommended the immediate launch of a health safety & environment course for Government College of Technology Samanabad.

He further said that collaboration between FCCI and Tevta could play a key role in modernizing technical education in accordance with the industrial requirements.

He said that proposed courses would not only enhance employability, support industrial growth and strengthen the skilled workforce in Faisalabad and Chiniot regions. Later FCCI Executive Member Muhammad Ali offered a vote of thanks.
