ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces have secured 32 square kilometres of the strategically significant Ghudwana Enclave in the Zhob sector, an area previously identified as a key staging zone of the Afghan Taliban.
According to the latest operational update, the enclave, located along a sensitive stretch of the western frontier, had been used as a logistical and movement corridor. Its capture is being described as a major tactical gain aimed at disrupting cross-border facilitation networks and denying militant elements operational depth.
The development comes as ground operations continue across multiple sectors following recent cross-border exchanges. Security sources confirmed that consolidation measures are under way in the newly secured area to stabilise positions, clear remaining pockets of resistance, and prevent re-infiltration.

In North Waziristan, forces carried out targeted actions around the Ghulam Khan axis, while in Nushki and Qilla Abdullah multiple enemy posts and observation points were neutralised during recent engagements. Cross-border firing was also reported in parts of the Torkham sector, where Pakistani installations sustained a limited damage.
According to officials, cumulative militant losses have increased since the morning update, with additional check posts destroyed and several positions brought under Pakistani control. On the Pakistani side, security personnel casualties have been reported, along with limited civilian losses in affected border areas.
Authorities have placed urban centres on heightened alert amid intelligence inputs of possible retaliatory attempts by banned outfits operating inside Pakistan. Security has been enhanced in major cities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and adjoining districts.
Meanwhile, the Information Minister, in a post on X, shared updated figures under Operation Ghazb lil Haq, stating that 352 Afghan Taliban fighters have been killed and over 535 injured so far.
The minister said 130 check posts have been destroyed, 26 posts captured, and 171 tanks and armed vehicles destroyed, while 41 locations across Afghanistan have been effectively targeted by air operations.
