ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces have killed at least 34 militants linked to Indian-sponsored proxy groups in a series of high-tempo, intelligence-driven operations carried out over the past few days across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, the military said on Tuesday.
According to an ISPR statement, 26 militants of Fitna al Khwarij were eliminated in four separate engagements in KP on February 24, while eight terrorists of Fitna al Hindustan were killed in an operation in Sambaza, Zhob district, Balochistan.
The military said security forces also foiled an infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Hassan Khel area of North Waziristan, where a group attempting to cross into Pakistan was detected and engaged. One militant, later identified as an Afghan national, was killed during the operation.

In Lakki Marwat, an intelligence-based operation led to the killing of three militants after an exchange of fire. Meanwhile, two separate engagements in Narmi Khel, Bannu, resulted in the neutralisation of 10 militants, while another 12 were killed in Mir Ali, North Waziristan, during a precision operation based on confirmed intelligence.
In the fifth engagement, security forces conducted an IBO in Sambaza, Zhob district, where eight militants belonging to Fitna al Hindustan were neutralised following an intense firefight.
The ISPR said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed militants, who were involved in multiple terrorist activities in their respective areas.
Reaffirming its resolve, the military said sanitisation operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining militants, adding that the counter-terrorism campaign under “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
