Security situation reviewed: Naqvi to deliver PM’s message to Sri Lankan president
ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Amid opposition protests demanding the immediate transfer of jailed former premier Imran Khan to hospital for treatment of an eye infection and following last week’s suicide blast at an imambargah, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday directed Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi to take urgent measures to restore security in capital.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said that Naqvi briefed the premier on the overall security landscape of the country, including the current situation in the Capital.
“The prime minister was given a detailed briefing on the overall situation and security in Islamabad,” the statement added. Sharif directed the interior minister to deal with security and related matters “in an effective and efficient manner”.
