ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday held a telephonic conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud a few days ahead of the inaugural meeting of the US President’s Board of Peace (BoP) scheduled to be held in Washington on February 19.

A Foreign Office’s statement said that the two leaders discussed the evolving regional situation, forthcoming international engagements, and agreed to remain in close contact.

Dar has been in constant touch with his counterparts in Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia over the past few days with a view to raising a united voice on post-conflict Gaza during the BoP meeting. Despite reservations from certain elements in the opposition over Pakistan’s joining the BoP, the Foreign Office said that Pakistan joined the body in good faith and that it, along with several other Islamic and Arab countries, will raise a collective voice on the issue of Palestine.
