KARACHI: Standard Chartered successfully concluded ‘Karachi United Youth League’ for the eighth years in a row as part of its longstanding commitment to promote sports amongst children.

Standard Chartered Karachi United Youth Football League 2025 held it closing ceremony Tuesday, having sponsored 1,400 footballers. Over the last eight years, in partnership with Karachi United Foundation, this exemplary sporting initiative has engaged more than 9000 talented players and eleven of community centres. This year’s competition saw a total of 1400 boys and girls from across Karachi participate in matches.

This year’s tournament began in October 2025 and since then has seen 204 matches being played.

The objective of the Standard Chartered Karachi United Youth League is to provide a platform for Youth football teams from across the underserved areas of Karachi to come together, break barriers and inculcate the spirit and culture of sport and competition.

Tasneem Mirza, Head Community Impact & Engagement, Standard Chartered Pakistan said, “Our partnership with the KU League reflects our belief in investing in platforms that bring young people together, empowers youth sports and fosters talent and opportunities for the next generation.”

Imran Ali, CEO of Karachi United, said: “Since its launch in 2017, the Youth League has grown from a small initiative involving just 540 boys and 92 girls into Pakistan’s largest youth football competition.

This season alone, 1,400 boys and girls participated across 204 matches played over four months, reflecting not just growth in scale but also in impact. What sets the Youth League apart is our deliberate focus on inclusion, particularly increasing access for girls, strengthening community ownership, and integrating football with social action initiatives.

The league has evolved beyond a tournament into a platform that builds confidence, nurtures talent, and creates meaningful opportunities for young people, proving the power of sport to drive long-term social change.
