KP vows full-force action to eliminate terrorism, restore stability

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has reaffirmed its resolve to eliminate terrorism and restore lasting peace in the province, pledging to deploy all available resources, including the army, police, and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).

The commitment was reiterated during the first meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee, chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in Peshawar, according to an official statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by provincial cabinet members, Peshawar Corps Commander Lt Gen Omer Ahmed Bokhari, Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed, and senior civil, military, and law enforcement officials.

At the outset, participants offered prayers for civilians and security personnel martyred in recent terrorist attacks and paid tribute to their sacrifices.

The statement said the committee reviewed the prevailing security situation and discussed a comprehensive counterterrorism strategy aimed at curbing terrorist activity and ensuring long-term stability in the province.

Officials emphasised that effective counterterrorism efforts require close coordination among political stakeholders, community leaders, law enforcement agencies, and the federal government.

“The chief minister underscored the provincial government’s unwavering commitment to utilise all resources, including the Pakistan Army, police and CTD, and stated that no sacrifice would be spared in the fight against terrorism,” the statement said.

The meeting also focused on a long-term approach to address the root causes of extremism, restore public confidence, and strengthen cooperation between the state and citizens to safeguard national security and promote development.

As part of the strategy, terrorism-affected areas will be developed into model districts through improved governance, targeted development initiatives and expanded social services. Special packages covering security, transport, health, education and employment will be introduced to address deprivation and create economic opportunities.

The government also pledged to ensure the safe and dignified return and rehabilitation of residents displaced by security operations, describing their resettlement as essential for sustainable peace and prosperity.

“Peace is our foremost priority, and there will be no compromise,” Chief Minister Afridi said, adding that the civilian administration, law enforcement agencies and the Pakistan Army were working in close coordination to maintain law and order.

“This is a collective struggle, and it can only be won through joint efforts,” he added.
