PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, chaired an important meeting to review matters pertaining to compensation and financial assistance for the affected communities of Tirah, Kurram, and Bajaur.

During the meeting, a comprehensive briefing was given on ongoing relief operations in the affected areas, utilization of funds and the mechanism for disbursement of payments.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister directed that the verification process for the affected people of Tirah must be completed within one week under all circumstances to ensure the earliest possible release of relief payments.

He emphasized that a complete and transparent digital record of all payments to affected families must be maintained so that every rupee can be properly accounted for. He categorically stated that negligence, mismanagement, or any lapse in the utilization of relief funds would not be tolerated under any circumstances.Muhammad Sohail Afridi reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to employ all available resources for the rehabilitation and assistance of the victims. He instructed that formal letters be issued to the federal authorities for the immediate release of outstanding dues owed to the victims, so that the pending amounts could be provided without any delay.

Furthermore, The CM directed the establishment of a special fund dedicated to the permanent rehabilitation and support of individuals affected by natural disasters and security operations. The briefing presented to the meeting revealed that out of 4.00 billion rupees allocated for victim assistance, Rs 900 million have already been expended.

It was reported that registration of 17000 affected households in the Tirah Valley has been completed, and that financial aid will be disbursed daily to one thousand households in Tirah. To ensure effective monitoring of these payments, a digital dashboard is being developed.

The meeting was also informed that the victims residing in the Baka Khel camp are being provided financial assistance on a monthly basis.

The session was attended by provincial cabinet members Aqibullah and Muzammil Aslam, along with administrative secretaries of the concerned departments, commissioners, and deputy commissioners, who apprised the Chief Minister of the ongoing initiatives and the future course of action.
