Trade and industry: ‘Secure environment fundamental responsibility of police’
KARACHI: Former Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police Ghulam Nabi Memon said that leading the Sindh Police was both a great honour and a heavy responsibility for him, adding that the maintenance of law and order, supremacy of the law, and protection of the lives and property of citizens and industrialists always remained his foremost priorities.
He expressed these views while addressing a reception held by the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI).
Ghulam Nabi Memon said that industry and trade form the backbone of any economy, and providing a secure environment for this sector is a fundamental responsibility of the police. He appreciated KATI for the warmth, sincerity and respect shown to him, terming it a matter of pride.
Praising the role of Karachi’s industrial community, particularly KATI, the former Sindh IG said the association had always played a positive role in promoting peace, development and prosperity by working closely with law enforcement agencies.
He added that strong and trusting relations between the police and the business community are essential for a stable and prosperous society.
He expressed satisfaction that during his tenure, mutual trust, effective coordination and cooperation between the police and industrialists was strengthened, yielding visible positive results.
KATI President Muhammad Ikram Rajput said the business community had gathered to honour a personality who not only led the Sindh Police effectively but also rendered valuable services for improving law and order, upholding the rule of law and introducing institutional reforms.
