Pakistan criticises India’s National Security Advisor for ‘avenge history’ remarks

Pakistan on Wednesday condemned comments by Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who urged Indians to “avenge our history” and build a strong nation.

Doval made the remarks while addressing youth in New Delhi, calling on them to draw strength from India’s past struggles and use “vengeance” to enhance the country’s power in security and economic sectors, according to Indian media.

Responding to media queries, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi described the comments as “hardly surprising coming from camouflaged hate-mongers,” and said such rhetoric undermined regional peace and stability.

This is the second time Doval has been given a befitting reply since the May conflict.

In June last year, Pakistan’s National Security Adviser Lt Gen Asim Malik effectively countered his Indian counterpart during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting of national security advisers in Beijing.

During that meeting, Doval had referred to “Operation Sindoor” as an action against terrorists and levelled what Pakistan described as baseless allegations.

However, Lt Gen Malik, in a well-argued and forceful response, dismissed Doval’s claims as a “bundle of lies.”

Lt Gen Malik said India has become accustomed to blaming others for its internal problems and policy failures instead of addressing them domestically.

Pakistan and India, both nuclear-armed neighbours, have long-standing tensions, particularly over the Kashmir dispute.

The latest escalation occurred in May 2025, when a four-day military confrontation ended following a ceasefire agreement.
