Eight killed, 11 injured in cylinder blast at Islamabad wedding house

At least eight people, including a newlywed couple, were killed and 11 others injured in a gas cylinder explosion at a wedding house in Pakistan’s federal capital, Islamabad, in the early hours of Sunday, officials said.
The blast occurred around 2:00 am inside a residential building in the G-7/2 sector, where a wedding ceremony was taking place. The powerful explosion caused panic in the area and damaged nearby houses.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon said all 19 people trapped under the rubble were rescued during the operation.
The injured were shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for medical treatment.
Rescue officials said at least four houses in the surrounding area sustained damage due to the explosion.
Authorities confirmed that the rescue operation had been completed, adding that an investigation had been launched to determine the exact cause of the blast.
