ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday praised the transparent bidding process for two new teams in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), stating that their inclusion would help nurture grassroots cricket and provide a platform for emerging talent.

In a meeting with the representatives of the winning firms, PM Sharif congratulated them and wished them success in their new ventures, emphasising that the live television broadcast of the PSL auction stood as proof of its fairness.

Hamza Majid of O-Zed Developers, which secured the Sialkot team, and Fawad Sarwar of FKS, which acquired the Hyderabad team, were present at the meeting.

PM Sharif described the addition of the new franchises as a “breath of fresh air” for the PSL and praised the involvement of international firms in the bidding process. He noted that this development would also encourage foreign investment in the country.

The prime minister further acknowledged the role of overseas Pakistanis, emphasising that they have always played a crucial role in the nation’s progress.

“The interest shown by both domestic and international firms highlights the growing global popularity of the PSL,” he added.

The meeting was attended by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Minister for Information Ataullah Tarar.
