PESHAWAR: The Finance Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued the no-objection certificate (NoC) for recruitment of 2,802 posts of watchmen while the NoC for 112 posts related to the merged districts has not yet been issued.

This was told during a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Elementary and Secondary Education held here at Assembly Secretariat with Chairman Iftikhar Mashwani in the chair on Wednesday.

The committee directed that these posts be filled at the earliest. As these are Class-IV positions, priority should be given to local residents in all districts, and landowners who have provided land for schools should also be included.

The committee members and MPAs presented details regarding the deteriorating condition of government schools in their respective constituencies and directed the Education Department to give special attention to the matter to safeguard the future of coming generations. The committee reviewed the Education Department’s e-transfer formula and emphasized its full implementation. The Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education informed the committee that headmasters of schools with results below forty percent have been issued warnings, and conferences in this regard were held in Peshawar, Abbottabad, and Mardan.

Various members also raised concerns regarding the condition of schools in Swat, Swabi, and other districts, as well as issues related to quotas for government employees, which the Committee decided to place on record.

Members of the Standing Committee and MPAs Muhammad Abdul Salam Afridi, Ahmed Kundi, Sharafat Ali, Askar Parvez, Ms. Asma Alam, Ms. Shala Bano, and Ms. Sobia Shahid attended the meeting.
