PESHAWAR: The Transport & Mass Transit Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pak-Austria Fachhochschule – Institute of Applied Sciences & Technology (PAF-IAST), Haripur, to enhance cooperation in mass transit, transportation and railway development across the province.

The MoU was signed with the Centre of Excellence in Transportation/Railway Engineering (COETRE), PAF-IAST, on Tuesday in the presence of Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah. Under the MoU, the two sides will work together on human resource development, applied research, skills training and technical advisory services in urban mobility and railways. The partnership will enable government officials to pursue specialized MS programs in Railway Systems Engineering and Transportation Systems Engineering, along with short-term professional and IT skill development courses.

The agreement also covers joint research projects, policy support, simulation studies on real-time transport challenges, and transaction advisory services for transport ventures, including pre-feasibility studies for suburban and commuter rail projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
