FAISALABAD: Exporters would have to face critical challenges of a fully compliant chain in addition to certification to enhance exports. However, the National Compliance Centre (NCC) is ready to support exporters to successfully rein in emerging issues and threats, said Dr Nabeel Amin, Head NCC.

Addressing at awareness session in Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI), he mentioned recent changes in global trade and said that Pakistan’s 60 to 70 percent exports are restricted to the EU countries.

“Being signatory of 29 international conventions, treaties and protocols, compliance of these rules was voluntarily but after proper legislation, the compliance of these rules have become mandatory,” he said and added that compliance by the vendor of foreign buyers would not be sufficient but their downstream vendors would have to comply with all the required rules and regulations.

He said that if immediate corrective measures were not taken, it may hit our industrial and export sectors. He further clarified that as an alternative to the EU and US, we may focus on other countries but hundreds of certifications would be required for export to Saudi Arabia. He stressed the need to ensure transparency in our businesses in addition to fully complying with Environment, Social and Governance related issues. He assured that NCC is fully prepared to arrange a series of awareness sessions and workshops to sensitize the SMEs and other major export units of Faisalabad.

Earlier President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh thanked the Ministry of Commerce for arranging this important session in FCCI. He said that we are ever ready to arrange such events for the awareness of our members and to achieve the national objectives of enhancing exports. He also introduced Faisalabad and FCCI and said that this city has the unique privilege to contribute 50 percent towards the total textile exports of Pakistan. He said that enhancement of export is our shared objective and it is encouraging that all concerned organizations including NCC are playing their proactive role in this respect.

Mr. Waheed Khaliq Ramay, Muhammad Ali, Umer Farooq Khalon, Muhammad Ashraf Mughal, Jawad Shafique, ArifIhsan Malik and Salman Ashraf participated in the question-answer session while Senior Vice President Naveed Akram Sheikh offered vote of thanks. Later President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh decorated Dr Nabeel Amin, Head NCC with a special collar pin to mark the golden jubilee of FCCI in addition to presenting a shield.
