PARIS: European Union soft wheat exports since the start of the 2025/26 season in July had reached 10.52 million metric tons by December 14, up from 10.16 million tons the previous week and down 2percent from a year earlier, European Commission data showed on Tuesday.

A breakdown of this season’s volumes showed Romania was still the largest EU soft wheat exporter with 3.47 million tons exported so far, followed by France (3.45 million tons), Lithuania (1.21 million tons), Germany (0.75 million tons) and Latvia (0.61 million tons).

EU barley exports totalled 5.01 million tons, up from 4.76 million tons a week earlier and up 135percent from the corresponding period of 2024/25.

In imports, the volume of maize shipped into the EU this season had reached 7.49 million tons, against 7.12 million a week earlier and down 20percent year on year.
