LAHORE: Chairman Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Moazzam Iqbal Sipra has said that the Large Taxpayer Unit will become operational in Lahore within the next couple of months.
During a meeting with a delegation of lawyers, led by the President of the Lahore Tax Bar Association, who visited the PRA headquarters on Saturday, the chairman said that efforts are underway to make the Large Taxpayer Unit operational within two months. In addition, he added, a training wing will also be established soon in order to enhance the professional capacity of revenue officers.
The visiting delegation highlighted various issues faced by lawyers dealing with tax-related matters. The representatives of the association appreciated the IT reforms introduced by the PRA and welcomed initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and transparency. Detailed discussions were also held on online hearings of cases and other recommendations to facilitate taxpayers and legal practitioners.
The Chairman PRA stated that directions have been issued for the immediate implementation of proposals related to Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL), stressing that the timely resolution of issues remains a top priority. He clarified that enforcement-related matters will be addressed at the offices of the respective commissioners rather than at the authority’s headquarters.
To further enhance taxpayer facilitation and transparency, the chairman said that the e-system is being strengthened and the number of enforcement officers is being increased.
Member Legal, Commissioner Lahore Division, legal consultants, and other senior officers of the PRA were also present on the occasion.
