Indonesian president due in Pakistan on Monday for two-day visit

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will arrive in Pakistan on December 8 for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Foreign Office said on Sunday.

This will be President Subianto’s first visit to Pakistan and the first presidential trip from Indonesia since 2018.

The visit also coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. A high-level delegation, including key ministers and senior officials, will accompany him.

During his stay, President Subianto will hold delegation-level talks with the prime minister and meet President Asif Ali Zardari. Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, will also call on him.

Both sides are expected to discuss a wide-ranging agenda to strengthen political, economic, and security cooperation.

Key areas include trade and investment, defence collaboration, health, information technology, climate resilience, education, and cultural exchanges.

Several memoranda of understanding are anticipated to be signed during the visit.

The Foreign Office said Pakistan and Indonesia share long-standing ties rooted in common values and mutual interests, and the visit is expected to further deepen bilateral relations while advancing collaboration at regional and multilateral levels.
