Customs foils smuggling bid, seizes drugs worth nearly Rs300 million

Pakistan Customs on Friday foiled a major bid to smuggle MDMA tablets through the International Mail Office (IMO), seizing narcotics valued at nearly Rs300 million, according to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
In a statement, the FBR said officials of the Airport Cargo Control Unit (ACCU), Collectorate of Customs Airports Karachi, recovered 9,455 MDMA (ecstasy) tablets, worth Rs299.791 million, during a targeted inspection of an inbound parcel from Germany.
The consignment, falsely declared as containing clothes, socks and music boxes, was found to have the drugs concealed inside speakers and LED lamps.

Customs has launched an investigation to identify the intended recipients and any local or international facilitators linked to the smuggling attempt.
FBR reaffirmed its resolve to maintain strict vigilance and curb smuggling through all channels, including international mail.
