LAHORE: The Lahore District Administration on Friday made the Dispute Resolution Council (DRC) operational to immediately resolve the city’s long-standing and complex property disputes on merit.

According to the administration, this measure aims to ensure the protection of citizens’ proprietary rights. In this connection, District Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza chaired the Council’s meeting in which DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Muhammad Sohaib Butt, all assistant commissioners, revenue officers, Punjab police, and PIRA officials were present.

During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on cases related to disputed properties, while the administration reported that all assistant commissioners have completed the process of personally inspecting the relevant disputed properties on site.

Addressing the meeting, the DC issued directives to the relevant departments to immediately resolve complex land disputes on merit and provide relief to the petitioners. He instructed the revenue and PIRA staff to expedite the case scrutiny process and ensure an immediate and impartial inspection of all disputed properties. Furthermore, he also emphasised the preparation of comprehensive reports based on case details and photographs, ensuring the personal appearance of the plaintiff and other parties, and the meticulous scrutiny of proprietary evidence and documents.

He clarified that police and revenue officers should further enhance cooperation to bring cases to a logical conclusion and prioritise the redressal of petitioners’ complaints. He stated that strict action will be taken against illegal occupants according to the law, and illegal occupations will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He emphasised that the resolution of property disputes is solely based on merit and transparency, and the administration is striving to eliminate delays in justice.
