FAISALABAD: Government College University Faisalabad organized a Diabetes Awareness Walk and Seminar under the auspices of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Department of Public Health. Health experts and medical professionals highlighted the importance of a balanced diet and regular physical activity as essential measures to prevent diabetes.
Prof Dr Abid Rasheed, In-Charge Faculty of Medical Sciences, emphasized the need for effective strategies and robust policies to curb the growing prevalence of diabetes in the country.
Program Coordinator Dr Ali Saiftain delivered a detailed lecture on the symptoms, prevention, and treatment of diabetes, noting that raising public awareness is the need of the hour.
The seminar was also addressed by Dr Ahmed Shehzad, Dr Owais Fazal, and Dr Javed Iqbal, who briefed students on preventive measures and the significance of adopting healthier lifestyle practices. The contributions of seminar organizers Dr Sabira Sultana, Dr Amna Aram, and Dr Zia Hammad were acknowledged for their dedicated efforts.
Speaking to the participants of the awareness walk, Dr Owais Fazal highlighted the importance of lifestyle modification for diabetic patients, stressing that maintaining a balanced diet and incorporating regular exercise are vital for better health outcomes.
A free medical camp and screening tests were also arranged for university students and staff. A large number of faculty members and students participated in the awareness walk and seminar, reaffirming GCUF’s commitment to promoting community health and well-being.
