Three police officials martyred in terrorist attack on Hangu checkpost
- Sacrifice of the martyred personnel will not go in vain, says the security czar
Three police officials were martyred after terrorists attacked a checkpost in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu district on Wednesday night, KP Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) said in a statement on Thursday.
Local media quored the CTD as saying that security forces, led by Hangu District Police Officer (DPO) Khan Zeb Mohmand, immediately responded to the late-night assault on the Qazi Talab checkpost, successfully engaging the assailants.
The CTD said that while the operation continued, police force encircled the area and “stood firm against the enemy like a wall of lead”.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the terrorist attack on the checkpost in Hangu.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Interior, Minister Naqvi paid rich tribute to the three fallen officials, expressing deep sympathy and condolences to their bereaved families.
“The sacrifice of the martyred personnel will not go in vain,” Naqvi stated. He emphasised that these sacrifices are proof of Pakistan’s unwavering commitment in the fight against terrorism.

The minister acknowledged the vital role of the provincial force, stressing that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has rendered invaluable sacrifices and remains on the front line in the war against terrorism.
Multiple terrorist attacks on security forces have taken place in the vulnerable part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in last few months.
In one such attack, Superintendent of Police (SP) Operations Asad Zubair and two cops were martyred in Hangu last month. As per the report, twin blasts rocked the region. The first blast targeted a police checkpost in the jurisdiction of Baliamina police station. As the heavy police contingent moved towards the site to inspect the scene, their vehicle was hit by another blast, leading to the death of the three police personnel.
In another attack, a police convoy was targeted in Hangu’s Doaba area earlier this month, leaving three policemen, including a station house officer (SHO), injured.
According to police sources, the convoy was targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED), followed by intense firing from unidentified assailants.
