LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has launched a large-scale crackdown against electricity theft in Kasur Circle and Chunia Division, seizing transformers and low-tension (LT) lines from multiple locations.
According to LESCO officials, the operation, carried out under the supervision of SE Kasur Circle Rao Kamran Shaukat and XEN Chunia Division Mian Tariq Bashir, followed reports that a consumer in Kot Haji Bagga village had deliberately and illegally damaged a scanning meter to avoid monitoring. Subsequent investigations revealed that all seven connections in the area, and the entire village were involved in power theft through meter bypassing.
A joint team led by SDO Kanganpur Subdivision Usama, accompanied by Rangers and police personnel, removed the village transformer, all electricity meters and the complete LT line. All equipment was taken into custody, and legal action against those responsible is underway, the officials stated.
As part of the ongoing anti-theft campaign, the LESCO teams also dismantled nine LT line spans from different villages, including three from Haji Bagga, three from Shahbaz Village, one from Gandhi Village, and two additional spans from Haji Bagga.
