KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Government, Housing and Town Planning, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, has said that work on Karachi’s infrastructure is underway and that within one year the entire landscape will change. He said MQM’s job is to create noise, and they keep doing that. He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at the office of the Solid Waste Management Board (CLICK).

Nasir Shah said that MQM, Jamaat-e-Islami, PTI, and all stakeholders of Karachi have been invited to sit together and work jointly for the improvement of the city. He said MQM knows their politics in Karachi has come to an end, which is why they frequently create the issue of the province.

He said that garbage collection from homes in Karachi should be a continuous process, although complaints do arise from some areas. Divisional boards are being activated in Sindh. At present, work is being carried out on mega-infrastructure projects. Many schemes are ongoing and many new schemes are about to begin. The infrastructure is being improved.

He said e-challans are for Karachi’s improvement so that people follow traffic rules. Cities where traffic laws are followed have fewer accidents. Following the rules is necessary.

Nasir Shah said that the age limit for the IBA tests held earlier was 43 years, and for those who had participated at that time, their age will be counted accordingly.

He said that the local government is being empowered. If MQM cares so much about local government, then why did they avoid the local body elections? He said that the PFC (Provincial Finance Commission) was formed and meetings were also held on it. Many here act like champions, but MQM’s role is only to make an issue out of everything. PTI had even abolished the local government system in Punjab.

Nasir Shah said that the Sindh government is working strongly against extortion. The Chief Minister of Sindh has taken notice of extortion slips and issued strict orders. Compared to the previous Karachi, the situation has improved greatly. The laws are also being improved. Their effort is that there should not be even a single crime in Karachi.
