LAHORE: The Punjab government has officially issued the notification for the commencement of the sugarcane crushing season across the province by virtue of which all sugar mills in the province will begin the crushing season from November 15, 2025.
The Punjab government has directed sugar mills to start crushing operations on time, warning that strict action will be taken against any mill failing to commence operations by the set date.
Disclosing this, the spokesperson of the Price Control & Commodities Management Department, Punjab, the district administrations, Special Branch, and Anti-Corruption teams have been instructed to conduct visits to sugar mills to ensure compliance.
Sugarcane crushing season to begin on 15th
The Cane Commissioner of Punjab has also directed all Deputy Commissioners to form special monitoring teams in their respective districts to oversee the crushing operations and report any delays directly to his office.
The Deputy Commissioners will personally inform the Cane Commissioner in case of any non-compliance. The government has set a clear deadline for the mills, and district monitoring teams will be present on-site from November 15 to ensure strict implementation of the 2025–26 crushing season, the spokesperson added.
He warned that any violation of the government’s directives could lead to up to three years imprisonment or a daily fine of at least one million rupees. The Cane Commissioner of Punjab has issued a clear message: “No leniency will be shown to those violating the law.”
