Afghan militant identified in Quetta FC HQs attack

QUETTA: New and undeniable evidence has once again surfaced linking terrorism in Pakistan to elements operating from Afghan soil.

Authorities have identified the second suicide bomber involved in the September 30 attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) Headquarters North in Quetta as an Afghan national.

According to security sources, the militant was affiliated with the extremist group Fitna al-Khawarij and has been identified as Mohammad Suhail, alias Khabbab, a resident of Maidan district in Wardak province, Afghanistan.

The suicide bombing at the FC Headquarters (North) in Quetta resulted in eight civilian deaths and left 40 others injured.

The identification of the Afghan attacker marks the latest instance of cross-border militancy believed to have originated from Afghanistan.

Security officials described the assault as “a shameful example of the Afghan-based Khawarij terrorists’ continued aggression against Pakistan.”
