In a major development British Chief of the General Staff (CGS) has called on Pakistan army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir at the GHQ. According to the media wing of Pakistan army, the leaders of the two militaries have discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security and measures to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation.
The both sides have also underscored the need for continued collaboration to ensure peace and stability in the region. This development, in my view, clearly suggests that India’s failed ‘Operation Sindoor 1.0.’ has led to elevating Pakistan as well its armed forces’ stature in the world, including Europe and the Americas.
Moreover, the world has not acquiesced to India’s attack on its neighbor Pakistan in May this year. It was clearly aimed at creating instability on a massive scale in the region and even beyond. Pakistan had given only a measured response to India to stop it in its tracks. Ironically, India’s civil-military leadership has failed to acknowledge its feelings of shame and humiliation without judgment.
The ongoing grand show of military might in the states bordering Pakistan and in the Arabian Sea by India is posing a renewed threat to the regional peace amid reports of likely launch of ‘Operation Sindoor 2.0’.
Prime minister Narendra Modi and his colleagues on the Cabinet Committee on National Security, country’s highest policymaking forum on defence and security matters, in my view, seem to have lost their marbles. In other words, their plans and strategies viz-a-viz Pakistan and the region are very strange, as if they have become insane.
