Chief Minister’s Project of Free Medicines to Patients Suffering from Cancer and Heart Diseases Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has also launched a plan to provide medicines to registered patients suffering from heart diseases, hepatitis and other diseases at their homes for their convenience.

Now, under a best practice, medicines are being delivered to patients’ homes every month by courier. Recently, the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education has signed an agreement with Pakistan Post to improve the system of providing free medicines to patients suffering from cancer and heart diseases at their doorsteps.

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched successful and historic projects like Clinics on Wheels and Field Hospitals, which created a wave of joy among the people of the province. According to records, more than 6.8 million patients have been provided with treatment and free medicines through Clinics on Wheels and Field Hospitals so far. 9.5 million patients have benefited from Field Hospitals so far, while 60,000 X-rays and 35,000 lab tests have also been provided. Ultrasound, first aid and mother-child facilities are being provided in Field Hospitals. Doctors, LHVs, vaccinations, staff and other medical facilities are available in Clinics on Wheels services.

Revamping of Government Teaching Hospitals in Punjab

The project of revamping all government teaching hospitals across Punjab is in the best possible stage of completion. In addition, more than 2800 hospitals are being revamped in Punjab. During the revamping, the dilapidated buildings of government hospitals have been converted into very beautiful multi-story buildings. The shortage of specialist doctors in district hospitals is also being met on priority basis.

To increase the treatment and care facilities for patients suffering from heart diseases in Punjab and provide the best medical facilities at their doorstep, state-of-the-art Nawaz Sharif Institutes of Cardiology are being established in Lahore and Sargodha, where the best surgeons, operation theaters, treatment and care facilities and free medicines will be provided to the patients suffering from heart diseases.

Recently, the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education has recruited 3000 nurses on vacant posts through the Punjab Public Service Commission. The Punjab government is bringing reforms for the betterment of the nursing department.
