The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 proved to be beneficial for Pakistan as well, as Pakistan’s Ministry of IT and Telecom have recently joined hands with the Chinese company, Huawei.

At this year’s MWC, Pakistan’s Ministry of IT and Telecom signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Huawei, through Universal Service Fund (USF).

The MoU is an agreement between parties towards a mutual goal. In this MoU, Pakistan’s IT Ministry wishes to co-operate with Huawei through the USF programs in order to develop program designing, training and sharing successful experiences with regard to broadband services, intelligent digital platforms, and vertical public services, reported Tech Juice.

The MoU was signed by Chief Technology Officer USF, Asif Kamal, with Huawei representatives, where Anusha Rehman, Pakistan’s Minister of IT & Telecom was also a witness. Pakistan’s IT Ministry is looking forward for Huawei to contribute towards the digital development in Pakistan.

According to Phone World, the IT Minister mentioned that Huawei will offer the requisite expertise to the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoIT) through USF to develop the National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services execution strategy and to support the Joint Innovation Center (JIC) for empowering women, benefiting from the USF ‘ICTs for Girls’ program.

Anusha Rehman also asserted that this partnership with the Chinese tech giant will strengthen the efficiency of projects and will be beneficial for the socio-economic development of the country in the long run.
