HYDERABAD: Sindh Board of Revenue senior member Shahid Parvaiz said the chief minister has set a target of Rs 20 billion for collection of Agricultural Income Tax (AIT) and the revenue officers have to achieve this target for a prosperous province.

He said this while presiding over a training session of revenue officers, here at Shahbaz Hall on Friday.

He said the revenue officers have to complete process of AIT assessment and prepare a list of taxable agricultural landowners before March 31st, accurately and take all out measures to issue assessment orders to them.

The Commissioner Hyderabad Muhammad Abbas Baloch, deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners and other revenue officers of Hyderabad division’s all 9 districts participated in this training session. The session was aimed at regulating agricultural income taxes.

The commissioner Hyderabad welcoming the senior member Sindh Board of Revenue said this training was much needed to bring officers at par with regard to collection of revenue taxes, laws, rules and regulations.

SBR senior member addressing officers said with the passage of time we have lost passion to learn laws and work accordingly.

“Our primary job is to implement revenue laws and collect agricultural income taxes.” He said according to law every agriculturist having income above Rs 1.2 million, has to pay AIT, and it’s the duty of revenue officers to make sure the recovery of these taxes.

The SBR senior member said vigilance teams will be dispatched across the province to check the assessments of AITs done by assistant commissioners and urged upon them to take all out measures to achieve set targets. He also asked assistant commissioners to keep a check on those who try to convert black money into white and use resources to bring all land owners and agriculturists under agricultural income tax net by utilizing their powers of Collector, judiciously in assessment and recovery drive of AIT.
