Mega development package for Balochistan's nine southern districts

That the PTI government has reached out to the residents of Balochistan in a meaningful manner is a fact. A mega development project by prime minister for the nine districts of southern Balochistan is a case in point. Vowing to bring the Balochistan province at par with other areas of the country, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday announced a mega development package for the provision of basic facilities like electricity, gas, water and Internet in the nine southern districts.

The government has taken the right decision to increase its focus on the southern parts of Balochistan, which are presently hit by a low-level insurgency. Not only do these areas comprise almost one hundred percent Baloch population, these are free from any sardari system. What is, however, required from the government is political will to honour its pledges as early as possible.
