ISLAMABAD: The opposition alliance, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has postponed its steering committee meeting scheduled here for today, called to formulate the recommendations for drafting the charter of alliance.

Talking to Business Recorder, Tariq Khan, a spokesman for the JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman, said the meeting had been postponed due to Gilgit-Baltistan elections, and now it would take place on Nov 16th.

He added that the summit of 11-party political alliance had also been postponed, which would be held on Nov 17th.

He said the decision had been taken in collaboration with the leadership of all the parties in alliance.

The spokesman said at present, senior leadership of the top political parties was busy in the election campaign for Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBA), which was set to take place on Nov 15.

Ahead of the G-B polls, a dozen political and religious groups, including the three largest political parties of Pakistan, have campaigned in the region to win popular support.

The PPP, PML-N and the ruling PTI have held marathon rallies across the region, attracting thousands of supporters.

Meanwhile, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has also removed party secretary information Hafiz Hussian Ahmed, owing to his harsh comments against Nawaz Sharif.

According to the JUI-F sources, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has removed Ahmed as the party’s spokesperson, and replaced him with Aslam Ghauri.

The decision was taken by the Majlis-e-Shura, the party’s main decision-making body on the other day held under the chairmanship of the party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Sources said Fazl briefed the participants about the recent decisions taken by the PDM leadership.
