KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 119,480 tonnes of cargo comprising 81,217 tonnes of import cargo and 38,263 tonnes of export cargo including 4,992 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 81,217 tonnes comprised of 38,007 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,389 tonnes of sugar; 14,092 tonnes of DAP; 11,849 tonnes of wheat; 1,411 tonnes of plam Kernel Expeller and 13,469 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 38,263 tonnes comprised of 35,751 tonnes of containerised cargo and 2,512 tonnes of cement.

As many as 4,992 containers comprising of 1,962 containers import and 3,030 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,078 of 20’s and 392 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 50 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 752 of 20’s and 748 of 40’s loaded containers while 264 of 20’s and 259 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Paris Express, AS Sara, OEL Kedarnath, MOL Globe and Castor-N carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were two vessels viz. Shiling and Castir-N carrying containers respectively currently at the berths.

There are two ships namely Shiling and Pioneer Star carrying containers and cement respectively expected to sail on Friday.

There are nine vessels viz. Bridge, Mandala, Stove Tide, Rainbow Island, Xing Hao Hai, Emmakris, V Avocet, Malcolm and Pine Arrow carrying containers, oil tanker, cement, chemical, clinker, wheat and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday while seven vessels viz. Northern Dexterity, KMTC Mumbai, Al Mahboobah, Brigitte, Jag Amisha, River Globe and Han Yi carrying containers, chemical, wheat, mogas and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 132,542 tonnes comprising 77,290 tonnes of import cargo and 55,252 tonnes of export cargo including 4,226 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 77,290 tonnes includes 10,004 tonnes of coal; 10,472 tonnes of chemical; 1,600 tonnes of gas oil; 13,102 tonnes of palm oil; 4,002 tonnes of soyabean; 1,860 tonnes of sugar; 2,208 tonnes of LPG and 25,012 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 55,252 tonnes includes 55,252 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,226 containers comprising of 1,318 containers import and 2,908 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were three ships namely MSC Chiara, MSC Chicago, and NCC Nafa carrying containers and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three ships namely LE Havre, Yasa Aysen and Gulf moon carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, sugar, soyabean, chemical, LPG, gas oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen vessels viz. Josephine Maersk, Maersk Jalan, African Turaco, Eternity SW, Sea Delta, Tiger Summer, Zita Schulte, Golden Denise, Glory Harvest, Gas Amazon, Clear Ocean Maritz, Southern Wolf, Hai De Li, Horizon and Bel Hai carrying containers, coal, chemical, LPG, gasoline and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Josephine Maersk, African Turaco, Sea Delta and Horizon carrying containers, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were three ships namely George Washington, CMA CGM Ivanhoc and Tiger Summer carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Thursday while another ship namely Maersk Jalan carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
