Country moving in right direction despite COVID-19 challenge, tweets PM

(Karachi) Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the country is moving in a right direction despite coronavirus pandemic.

In a tweet on Thursday, the PM stated: "MashaAllah the country is moving in the right direction despite the Covid 19 challenge."

Pakistan had managed to control the first wave of COVID-19 outbreak by taking effective measures including the smart lockdown in corona hotspots. However, the disease resurfaced as the country is hit by a second wave.

On Thursday, Pakistan reported 1,808 new coronavirus cases, taking the nationwide tally to 349,992.

At least 36,686 tests were conducted across the country, taking the total number of tests conducted to 4,810,182. Currently, there are 22,088 active cases in the country.

The death toll increased to 7,055 after the country reported 34 more deaths. The country reported the highest-single day number of deaths since July. 1,164 patients are in critical condition.

784 more people have also recovered from the novel virus, taking the nationwide tally to 320,849.
