Over 100 vacant positions of CEOs/MDs: Ministries given 3 months to fill posts
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet has given three months to the concerned ministries to fill over a 100 vacant positions of Chief Executive Officers (CEOs)/Managing Directors (MDs).
The Establishment Division gave a detailed presentation to the Federal Cabinet last week in which it was noted that several Ministries have not filled vacant positions despite clear instructions from the Federal Cabinet.
According to the Establishment Division, it has identified/found 129 (96+33) positions of heads/CEOs/MDs in different organizations working under the administrative control of 26 Ministries/Divisions which have been vacant since long.
It was also noted that out of 96 vacant positions 15 positions are in Power Division, 10 in National Health Services, Regulation & Coordination Division, 10 in National Food Security and Research Division, 6 in Petroleum Division, 6 in Federal Education and Professional Training Division, and 3 in Industries and Production Division.
The Establishment Division further stated that 33 organizations have been recommended for either merger into other organizations/Liquidation/Privatization whereas 16 Ministries have submitted "Nil" Report.
The Prime Minister, Imran Khan expressed concern at the nearly over 100 vacant positions of CEOs and Heads of organizations, despite repeated instructions from the Cabinet to fill these positions on priority.
The Cabinet also took note of the presentation by the Establishment Division on existing vacancies of CEOs/MDs in various Divisions and directed that all positions be filled within three months without fail. The concerned Minister and the Secretary shall be personally responsible to implement the decision.
It was also decided that in case a Division cannot fill any vacancy within the given timeframe, reasons thereof shall be communicated to the Establishment Division within one week and the Establishment Division shall present it before the Cabinet within a fortnight.
