LAHORE: Punjab has reported 303 fresh coronavirus cases and eight deaths during the last 24 hours taking the provincial tally of cases to 105,197 and fatalities to 2,380.

During the last 24 hours, 10,644 tests were conducted while with recovery of 17 people, the total number of recovered patients has reached to 97,515. About 614 more recoveries from coronavirus have been reported across the country, taking the total to 316,060. The total number of active corona patients is over five thousand in Punjab. According to the government’s database on Covid-19, 747 patients are in critical condition.

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has urged the people to follow SOPs for safety from coronavirus. The people must wear facemasks and follow social distancing, he added.

Moreover, health professionals have called upon the government to ensure strict implementation of SOPs, especially at public sector institutions.

Explaining the reasons behind the Covid-19 cases, health physician Capt Dr Niaz Ahmed (retd) stated that the people are not following SOPs and many educational facilities had been found to be flouting preventive guidelines.
