THE RUPEE: Mixed behaviour

KARACHI: On Wednesday, after market closing, Pakistan Rupee displayed mixed behaviour. It gained in value against USD in interbank market while falling in open market. It also fell against Euro in open market while remaining unchanged against AED and SR.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee gained 12 paisas for buying and 10 paisas for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 162.10 and 162.20 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR lost 5 paisas for both buying and selling over yesterday's rates closing at 162.30 and 162.60 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR lost 1.5 rupees for both buying and selling closing at 191 and 192.50 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR remained unchanged for both buying and selling closing at 44.40 and 44.60 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR remained unchanged as well closing at 43 and 43.15 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee lost its worth on the buying side while it stayed unchanged on the selling side in relation to the greenback in the local currency market on Wednesday.

According to currency dealers, the greenback recovered 10 paisas for buying and closed at Rs 162.40 against the opening rate of Rs 162.30 whereas it firmly sustained its worth for selling at Rs 163.50.

Besides, the national currency depreciated its worth in the process of trading against the pound sterling. Consequently, the pound's buying and selling rates rose from the Tuesday's closing trend of Rs 209.00 and Rs 211.00 to Rs 210.00 and Rs 211.80 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee recovered 60 paisas against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.

The dollar opened at Rs162.80 (buying) and Rs162.90 (selling) against last rate of Rs163.40 (buying) and Rs163.50 (selling).

It closed at Rs162.80 (buying) and Rs162.90 (selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold was Rs. 115,300 (selling) and Rs115,100 (buying) at the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
