Shifa International Hospital celebrates National Speech & Language Pathology Day
ISLAMABAD: National Speech & Language Pathology Day was celebrated at Shifa International Hospital Islamabad to highlight the efforts and Importance of Speech and Language therapist. Speech-language pathology is a field of expertise practiced by a clinician known as a Speech-Language Pathologist SLP or a speech and language therapist.
Chief guest Dr Nausheen Hamid, Parliamentary secretary for national health services while addressing the audience stressed the importance of treating swallowing and speech issues both in Paediatrics and Geriatrics. She also highlighted the need to promote research linkages between institutions and standardized health education to improve standard of living.
A panel discussion was carried out by experts from fields regarding the theme of this year is community rehabilitation through better communication. A lecture on the role of the Speech pathologist in COVID-19 was delivered by Faiza Badar speech pathologist SIH. Kashif Khan, Associate General Manager rehabilitation department stated that therapists are an integral part of any rehabilitation setup.-PR
