Governor Sindh Imran Ismail has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan wants to expedite work on the Bundal Island project aiming to construct two new cities on the island.

Talking to media in Islamabad alongside Ports and Shipping Minister Ali Zaidi, he said the project would create new job opportunities for 150,000 people beside becoming a source of income for the province.

He clarified that the Island will remain part of the province, adding that it would not be a housing project rather a plan to construct a city.

The governor said that the project is expected to attract up to five million tourists and investors have ready started approaching the government for the project.

He said the income it will generate will go to the province which will drastically change the economic situation of Sindh.

Furthermore, the governor vowed to address the grievances of the provincial government. “We will take the Sindh government into confidence over the matter,” said Imran.

On October 06, the Federal government rejected the opposition of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)-led Sindh government over the promulgation of the Island Development Authority as Minister for Ports and Shipping Ali Zaidi shared a NOC for the Bundal Island issued by the provincial government.
