ISLAMABAD: The country's exports during July-September 2020 as compared with the same period of the last year have witnessed a decline of 0.94 percent, ie, from $5.51 billon to $5.46 billion, exports and imports data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) revealed.

The PBS data revealed that during the period, the country's imports witnessed a growth of 0.56 percent, ie, from $11.2 billion in July-September 2019 to $11.262 billion in July-September 2020.

During the period, the country's balance of trade widened by 2.02 percent from $5.69 billion in July-September 2019 to $5.804 billion July-September 2020. On month-on-month (MoM) basis, according to the PBS, the country's exports jumped by 18.24 percent from $1.58 billion in August 2020 to $1.87 billion in September 2020.

The imports of Pakistan during September 2020 against previous month also witnessed an increase of 28.28 percent from $3.324 billion to $4.264 billion. Trade deficit on MoM basis also widened by 37.41 percent from $1.74 billion in August 2020 to $2.39 billion in September 2020. On Year-on-Year (YoY) basis, the exports witnessed a growth of 6.12 percent from $1.765 billion to $1.873 billion, the PBS said.

Over the period, the country's imports on YoY basis, witnessed an increase of 13.22 percent from $3.766 billion in September 2019 to $4.264 billion in September 2020. On YoY basis, trade deficit increased by 19.49 percent from $2.001 billion in September 2019 to $2.391 in September 2020, the PBS data said.
