PPP to hold public rally in response to MQM-P's march on Oct 4, announces Ghani

  • Minister says PPP government has planned to file a petition against the Baldia factory tragedy case verdict as some of those involved in the incident were not awarded punishment

(Karachi) Sindh Information Minister Saeed Ghani has said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will hold a rally on October 4 (Sunday) in response to MQM-Ps march, media reported. The rally will kick off from Ayesha Manzil at 2pm.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan held a public rally as part of its province-wide protest campaign for the rights of urban Sindh on September 25.

Addressing a press briefing in Karachi, Ghani claimed that PPPs rally will be a success and thousands of people will participate in it. He added that MQM-P has tarnished the image of Urdu speaking population.

He said the demand for a separate province comprising the urban parts of Sindh by MQM-P leaders is a tactics to blackmail the Sindh government.

Regarding Local Government elections, the minister stated that LG polls will be held in a fair and transparent manner and PPP representatives will again win with majority of the seats.

He said the PPP government has planned to file a petition against the Baldia factory tragedy case verdict as some of those involved in the incident were not awarded punishment.

Hurling criticism on Prime Minister Imran Khan, Saeed Ghani said that the PTI government is ineligible and failed to run the affairs of the country amicably.

Earlier, MQM-P lambasted the Pakistan Peoples Party-led Sindh government for ruling over the province for the last 13 years on the basis of an ‘artificial majority’.

MQM-P leaders said the creation of a separate province was a constitutional demand of the people of the urban areas of Sindh. They mentioned that the 18th constitutional amendment remained an unfinished agenda if the Article 140-A was not implemented.

They claimed that development work from funds allocated for the metropolis under the Karachi Transformation Plan, a financial package worth Rs1.1 trillion, were not seen anywhere.
