Prime Minister Imran Khan congratulated on Thursday Yoshihide Suga on his election as the new Prime Minister of Japan.

In a tweet today, the PM said that he is looking forward to working with PM Suga to 'further strengthening Pakistan-Japan friendship and our increasing cooperation'.

On Wednesday, Suga replaced Shinzo Abe who had earlier resigned from the post. Abe resigned because of ill health after nearly eight years in office.
