KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 133,754 tonnes of cargo comprising 87,282 tonnes of import cargo and 46,472 tonnes of export cargo including 5,346 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 87,282 tonnes comprised of 48,999 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,510 tonnes of DAP; 10,373 tonnes of wheat and 17,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 46,472 tonnes comprised of 22,159 tonnes of containerised cargo; 258 tonnes of bulk cargo; 23,555 tonnes of clinker and 500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 5,346 containers comprising of 3,312 containers import and 2,034 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 858 of 20's and 1,177 of 40's loaded while 100 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 535 of 20's and 615 of 40's loaded containers while 43 of 20's and 113 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were two ships namely Mayssan and Kota Kaya carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were two vessels viz. Edison and Wieland carrying containers respectively currently at the berths.

There are three ships namely Edison, FOS Spirit and Tail Winds carrying containers, oil tanker and wheat respectively expected to sail on Wednesday.

There are seven vessels viz. Saxonia, Al-Soor-II, MT Karachi, DS Courage, Olympus, Stellar Hudson and Star Omicron carrying containers, oil tankers, wheat, talcum powder and rock phosphate respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while another vessel viz. COSCO Oceania carrying containers is expected due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 150,902 tonnes comprising 102,856 tonnes of import cargo and 48,046 tonnes of export cargo including 3,512 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 102,856 tonnes tonnes includes 66,666 tonnes of coal; 9,250 tonnes of palm oil; 186 tonnes of gas oil; 1,425 tonnes of LPG; 553 tonnes of mogas and 24,776 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 48,046 tonnes includes 6,094 tonnes of cement; 41,952 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,512 containers comprising of 1,304 containers import and 2208 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were two ships namely Ocean Silver and African Pheasant carrying coal respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, LPG, gasoline and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eighteen vessels viz. Adames, Izumo, Great Pioneer, Star Lotus, Osiris, Yangze Venus, Chemroad Sea, Banglar Ag Radoot, Tomson Gas, Gas Zous, Gas Amazon, Seri Balqis, Nord Venus, Feeder, Aponia, Ahtigoni, Nord Harmony and Torm Atlantic carrying general cargo, coal, cement, veg oil, LPG, LNG, gasoline, gas oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There was one ship viz. Seri Balqis carrying LNG expected to take berth at Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There are two ships namely Maersk Brooklyn and Express Maersk carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
